Christmas is a wonderful time of year. Enchanting! The season brings visions of golden-brown turkeys with all the trimmings. Carolers singing as the snow falls gently down. Gifts under the Christmas tree. Stockings hung by the fireplace. Family times. It’s just a special time unlike any other in the year. And a time when memories are forged that will last a lifetime.

It seems every time we have a party at RE/MAX Garden City it never is an isolated event. It always becomes an annual tradition. And that’s certainly the way it has been with Halloween. Costumes, contests, pot luck, lots of fun.

RE/MAX entered the real estate scene in 1973. Over 5 decades ago! At the time, it was a radical new approach to the typical real estate company model. Up until then there were basically two company structures. There was the conventional real estate office, where the Broker of Record was pretty much in control. He/she charted the course of the company. He/she controlled all the marketing and advertising. And he/she paid the costs. But in return, he/she retained half the commission. It was what we called a full service conventional real estate model.

August 29th was a wonderful day! A mix of sun and cloud with no rain in sight. Temperatures in the mid 70’s for those of you, who like me, still think in Fahrenheit. Warm enough to be outside in shirtsleeves even on into the evening. You just never know when you get into the last week of August. Can be unseasonably warm and sunny, but it can also, on occasion, have a real chill in the air. Especially into the evening. We lucked out!

It’s been a long-standing tradition here at RE/MAX Garden City Realty Inc. spanning several decades. Our annual ‘Hackers’ golf tournament. And as the name suggests it’s not really a serious golf tournament. It’s meant to embrace all kinds of talent and experience, incorporating golfers who are ‘scratch’ caliber all the way to people who have never held a club in their hands. And believe me, we get people from both ends of the spectrum and everything in between. But it’s designed to be a social event where our agents and friends can just go out and have some fun. And it very much accomplishes that.

They teach you a lot in Real Estate Licensing School. Regulatory Compliance issues as they apply first to the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act (REBBA) and now more recently the Trust in Real Estate Services Act (TRESA). And of course, a host of other Acts and guidelines. The New Condominium Act.
Better late than never! Each year, late winter or early spring RE/MAX Garden City Realty Inc. hosts an Awards Gala where we celebrate the outstanding achievements of our salespeople for the previous year. RE/MAX International hosts an International Convention (R4) in Las Vegas each year, always end of February.
