If ever there was a poster child for the benefits of a solid work ethic, that would be Emily Gillan. Daughter of Italian immigrants, Emily relocated to Canada at the age of 5 when her parents immigrated to this country, first to Toronto and then about 5 years later to Niagara. Life changed for Emily shortly after high school graduation when she married, started a family and entered the work force. Emily’s first jobs were in retail, first in a hardware store, then a department store. But when the department store closed its doors, that forced change led Emily into a life changing career – sales. She became a road rep for Legg’s panty hose and discovered her true calling was sales. On the road between Oakville and Selkirk she made calls, took orders, developed relationships and soon was the top salesperson in the Region.
But Emily’s true passion was Real Estate. Even as a young lady selling on the road, she began investing in rental real estate. So, with a tireless work ethic and a proven track record in sales, Emily decided to embark on a career in real estate. That was over 30 years ago, and what a success story Emily’s career has proven to be.
She began in 1989 and was so successful that within 1 year she did what a lot of top salespeople have done over the years. She joined RE/MAX. Her first year at RE/MAX Emily was recognized by the local board as both the top Listing Agent and top Selling Agent for the year. A distinction she maintained over the next 10 years until the Board decided to discontinue the Award recognitions.
Over the years at RE/MAX Emily Gillan has continually set the standard for excellence in sales. She is a continued recipient of the 100% Club and Platinum Club Award. She has on numerous occasions been recognized as placing in the top 10 and top 5 for the company, and the entire Region, as well as being inducted into RE/MAX International Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement and Circle of Legends for outstanding sales achievement during her career here at RE/MAX.
Little did Mom or Dad realize back when they elected to move to Canada that one day their daughter would be a shining star in Niagara’s Real Estate sales community. They would be proud. And so will you when you engage Emily to represent you, whatever your real estate needs might be.
