Each year in April the powers that be set aside one day to honor Administrative staff around the Globe – Administrators Day. It’s an important day for us at RE/MAX Garden City Realty because our Admin staff are so critical to the efficient running of our operation. And quite frankly they are the best!
We don’t celebrate the day in April, however. We hold it in June. And we do that for a number of reasons. The main one being weather. Over the years we’ve had a number of events planned to celebrate the day: limo rides to dinner theatres like Stage West, mystery dinners, and an assortment of restaurants such as the Old Stone Inn, the Keg, The Edgewater, Canyon Creek, to name just a few. But more recently we gravitated to themed parties in the yard of our Broker Wayne Quirk. We’ve had Italian, Thai, Western each with an assortment of activities like horseshoes, bull riding, marksmanship, and lots of great prizes to be won. And because it’s been outside, we found June a lot more accommodating than April.
This year, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID, we decided to again do something a little different. A progressive dinner around the area, via limo as befitting our celebrity staff.
We began by gathering at the home of Wayne and Debbie Quirk around 2:30 pm, and after everyone arrived, so did the limo. Our first stop was at Château des Charmes. One of Niagara’s fine wineries, where we were treated to a selection of wines, beginning with sparkling ‘champagne’, and a fabulous charcuterie tray featuring an outstanding selection of cheeses, meats, bread, condiments, and even some gourmet popcorn. We had an enchanting covered cabana overlooking the rolling vineyards.
It wasn’t long until the limo arrived and conveyed us to our second stop. The Tiara restaurant at Queens Landing in Niagara on the Lake. Here, overlooking the Yacht Club and Niagara River, we enjoyed our second course of the evening, salads and appetizers. Again, a spectacular setting and an opportunity to mix and mingle at a central table overlooking the patio and marina.
The third stop and really the main destination for the evening meal was the Blue Mermaid in St. Catharines. Unquestionably one of the finest steakhouses to be found not just in Niagara, but pretty well anywhere. Here we had the luxury of our own private dining room. Fabulous food, fabulous people, and lots of fun. Nobody went away hungry.
But the evening didn’t end with dinner. After all, a meal isn’t complete without dessert. So, our final culinary stop was Café Amore, where we all enjoyed our choice from their excellent selection of cheesecakes and other fine delicacies.
Our limo dropped us back off at the Quirk’s just after 9:00 pm. With hugs and ‘goodbyes’ another Administrative Professional’s Day came to an end. They had forecast rain and it did come down, but apart from a wet run from Cabana to Chateau at the winery, we managed to stay dry, and by the time we reached Queen’s Landing the weather had cleared. A wonderful event all in all. Nobody went home hungry, to be sure. And the evening, along with being a fun-filled adventure, again reinforced the fact that we are blessed with a fabulous group of support staff at RE/MAX Garden City Realty. They know how to work hard; they know how to have fun. They are an exceptional group of people. The evening doesn’t begin to express how appreciative we are of them all. But I think they know.
