My boss, Wayne Quirk, our Corporate Administrator and I put our heads together in meeting after meeting on what to get our agents for Christmas. No party, no gathering of more than 10 inside our office, no music even. A gift card to a local restaurant was suggested but that was quickly turned down by Wayne, as he felt it was too “cold” of a gift. No real thought or meaning was involved. At our final meeting, a plan for a holiday gathering was solidified, thanks again to our commander in charge.
Each agent was given a choice of a bottle of cheer, and also a special delicacy “pecan pie”. We managed to call each realtor and carefully planned 5 people every 30 minutes to stop by our diner (socially distanced wearing masks) to pick up their holiday gift. For those that couldn’t attend, the gifts were delivered to their homes.

It was a huge success!!!! For the first time, all but a few people were able to attend. But something really special happened that day. Our broker of record, Wayne Quirk has a slight hearing deficiency and because of that, at every gala, or Holiday formal gatherings he is unable to mingle as he just can’t hear what people are saying. Yesterday, he sat, he listened, and at times shared stories of Christmas past or just stories of the year behind us and often answering the question…..” what’s going to happen to the real estate market in 2021”. For me watching him beam, his smile as he greeted each one, was so special. It was a full day of sincere smiles of gratitude, people happy to see each other if only for a few minutes, the fellowship even without hugs was felt in the entire room. A very different holiday gathering. It finally felt like Christmas.
